Done with your studies? Why not become a trainee at KODi next?
Whether you’re based in store or at head office, you will be encouraged to put your existing knowledge to good use and keep on gaining more work experience during our trainee programme over 12 to 18 months.
We give you the chance to work on a variety of tasks and get involved with exciting projects as a trainee at KODi. You can rest assured that your colleagues will be on hand to help you with your professional and personal development.
We only take on trainees when we have enough vacancies because we like to offer all our trainees a realistic chance of being offered a permanent position. This is why you will find that the start dates for our trainee programmes vary. Most of our trainee positions crop up in Sales (e.g. Trainee Sales Manager) and Buying Management. So we recommend that you keep an eye on our vacancies.
You need to have completed your vocational training or studies in the relevant subject area if you want to apply for a place as a trainee. You will receive confirmation that we have received your application after you submit it. The HR department and relevant team will check over your application in great depth. We will invite you to an online introductory interview or we will let you know that you have been unsuccessful. If that first interview goes well, we will invite you to a second interview at our head office in Oberhausen.
If you show your commitment and complete the full trainee programme, there is a chance that you will be able to stay with us for the next stage of your career.
Still not sure if a trainee programme at KODi is the right path for you?
Why not have a read of what Sarah, our Social Media Trainee, has to say.
I’ve known about KODi for a while – it’s where I bought my kitchen utensils for my flat when I was at uni. Once I’d finished studying, I was looking for a position that would allow me to use my theoretical knowledge and practical experience in social media. I spotted an opening on the trainee programme on the job portal and applied there and then.
The application process was so quick and easy. I had two interviews altogether – an initial introductory one and a second one where I had to present an assignment. This does vary depending on the department you’re applying to work in, though.
The pace is fast in both the retail and social media worlds. There’s something new and exciting to get on with every day, so there’s no chance of ever getting bored.Obviously, some tasks are always on my to-do list like planning the content for our social media channels, briefing my colleagues in the Graphic Design department and producing regular reports on the social media figures. On top of all that, I have my own projects that I can work on at my own pace.
I love the fact that I get the chance to be creative in my work. The decision-making processes are so efficient that new concepts and ideas can be implemented quickly and without any hassle – unlike in many other companies. I also appreciate the real sense of team spirit I share with my colleagues. Everyone is always happy to answer questions or just listen.
I would tell future applicants to be motivated and show a real interest in their work because that’s the way to get ahead at KODi.Don’t be put off applying even if you don’t quite tick all the boxes listed in the job advert. And don’t forget to just be yourself in your interviews. Remember that the trainee programme is designed to give you a chance to learn and develop.
